HOLLY +TYLER - AUCKLAND

We Hate Jetstar, But We Love Auckland

Holly & Tyler’s New Zealand Wedding. Travelling for weddings always sounds glamorous… until you’re actually doing it. This trip? Absolute chaos. Jetstar really said, “let’s make this as painful as possible.” Flight time mix-ups, boarding confusion, zero sleep—honestly, it was a full-blown fuck up from start to finish.

But here’s the thing… The second I landed in Auckland, I didn’t even care anymore. Auckland, you’re something else. The light is softer, the air feels fresher, and everywhere you look feels like it belongs in a movie. It’s one of those places where you just know it’s going to be a good day before anything even happens. And this wedding? Set on a family property in the most perfect location. Not a styled venue. Not a hired space. Something real. Something meaningful. The kind of place that already holds memories—and now holds even more.

Holly and Tyler’s story is one of those modern, slightly chaotic, but completely perfect love stories. They met through a mutual friend… who met Holly on a dating app for friends while moving to a new city and just looking for people to hang out with. I mean… you literally couldn’t script that better. But it makes sense. Because everything about these two just feels easy. Natural. Effortless. The Best Wedding Ever (Yes, I Mean It) I shoot a lot of weddings. Like… a lot. But every now and then, one hits differently. This was one of those. 130 guests, all gathered on land that actually meant something to them. No cookie-cutter venue. No forced timeline. Just people showing up, fully present, ready to celebrate.

It had everything: Big energy from start to finish. Belly laughs that didn’t stop. Emotional speeches that hit you right in the chest. It was about connection. And you could feel it in every single moment. Real moments over perfect ones There’s something special about weddings like this. No awkward posing. No forced smiles. Just Genuine reactions, people forgetting the camera is even there, moments unfolding exactly as they should

This is why I shoot the way I do. Documentary, candid, real. Because this? This is what people actually want to remember. Worth every bit of travel chaos. Would I go through the Jetstar nightmare again? Honestly… yeah. Because at the end of it all, I got to witness something incredible. A love story that started in the most unexpected way…celebrated in the most meaningful place…surrounded by 130 people who showed up hard for them. And that’s what weddings are supposed to be.

Holly & Tyler, you absolutely nailed it.

Thank you for trusting me to capture your day, for welcoming me into your space, and for throwing one of the best weddings I’ve ever been part of. This one’s going to stick with me for a long time.

Jess xx
