Micaela & Tim’s

LITTLE WHITE WEDDING CHAPEL, MALENY

Tim was putting his daughter into the car after a day at the beach when he and Micaela caught each other’s eye.

An ordinary moment, right in the middle of getting on with life. Neither of them could have known where it would lead, but here we are, telling their wedding story. Their Maleny wedding morning arrived with storms. And while rain on your wedding day is supposedly good luck, I’m always quite happy for that luck to finish falling before the ceremony.

Thankfully, the weather obliged. By the time they were ready to get married, the storms had cleared and beautiful sunshine had taken over. But the detail that made their ceremony particularly special was the person conducting it: Micaela’s dad. Having your dad there as you get married is one thing. Having him be the person who actually marries you adds a whole other layer of meaning. A family connection right at the centre of the ceremony, and something they’ll always have as part of their story.

As a photographer, those details matter to me. Knowing who someone is and what they mean to you gives the photographs a significance that goes far beyond how everything looked. And with Micaela and Tim, there was already such a lovely story behind the day. A chance encounter after the beach had brought them all the way here, standing together in Maleny and getting married.

Micaela and Tim, thank you for trusting me to photograph this chapter. From a passing glance beside a car to a wedding ceremony conducted by Dad, you’ve got a pretty special story to tell.
