What is a Hybrid Photographer?

Megan and Kelsey, Maleny Manor

Being a hybrid photographer isn’t just about doubling your workload—it’s about enhancing your value and broadening your creative reach. It requires preparation, the right tools, and a mindset focused on visual storytelling in multiple dimensions.

If you’re looking to evolve as a content creator or offer more to your clients without needing a full team, hybrid shooting is a game-changer.

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out with Megan, Kelsey and their awesome family and friends. I had a 4 camera set up which is a little more than normal but I was covering the ceremony from all angles. I was also able to capture some photo content on the side in addition to filming the day. I get asked quite often what a Hybrid photographer is, so I thought I would explain exactly what I do.

Love the idea of a wedding video...

but not keen on a full 30-minute film?

If you’re not totally sold on hiring a full-on videographer but still want a little movie magic from your big day, I’ve got just the thing. My highlight film is a short, sweet, and beautifully edited video that captures all the best bits - without the commitment of a full-length production. It’s the perfect middle ground for couples who want the feels without the fuss.

How It Works ..

Thanks to a little camera magic (and some clever tech), I’m able to seamlessly switch between photo and video throughout your wedding day - no need for a separate videographer.

My main priority will always be capturing your photos (unless I am hired specifically for Film like I was for Megan and Kelsey) especially during key moments like your first kiss, walking down the aisle, or that epic confetti shot. But in between those moments, I’ll also be recording short video clips to create a beautiful 2–3 minute highlight film that tells the story of your day.

The final film is set to licensed music, and I may include snippets of audio from your ceremony or speeches - if they fit the vibe and the audio quality is spot-on. That said, I typically only include ceremony audio ultimately based on quality and how well it fits the final film artistically.

If you would love to see some of my highlight films you can check out my website, there is also a little more info about my films and what I can offer.
