Holly & Nathan’s Wedding // Frogmore Creek, Tasmania

A little rain. A perfectly timed break. An excellent finish to 2025.

My final wedding of 2025 took me from Brisbane to Tasmania for Holly and Nathan’s day at Frogmore Creek. An early flight, cameras packed, and a weather forecast I would have preferred to unsubscribe from. It rained. Quite enthusiastically, actually.

When you’ve planned an outdoor ceremony, a day of rain can involve a fair amount of looking out windows and checking forecasts. Unfortunately, refreshing the weather app does not improve the weather. I remain disappointed by this design flaw. But we worked with it. We watched for breaks, adjusted where we needed to, and made the most of the opportunities we had.

Then, about half an hour before the ceremony, the rain eased. After keeping everyone guessing for most of the day, the sky finally cooperated. Holly and Nathan got their outdoor ceremony, and we got to stop negotiating with the clouds. Excellent timing. Would have appreciated slightly more notice.

A wedding day with room to adapt. Frogmore Creek was a beautiful setting to finish the year. Even with the weather changing the plans, there was so much to appreciate about being there, watching Holly and Nathan get married and photographing the day as it happened.

Rain does change how we work. We might move things around, find some shelter or head outside when a gap appears. That’s part of my job. You shouldn’t need to spend your wedding monitoring the radar and managing the photographer. I’ll keep an eye on the light and the weather. You keep an eye on the person you’re marrying. They’ve probably made an effort. For Holly and Nathan, those breaks gave us opportunities to get outside for photographs. And when the ceremony could go ahead outdoors, it was a particularly lovely result after such an uncertain start.

The last wedding of the year

There’s always something special about photographing that final wedding before putting the bags down for a moment. You find yourself reflecting on the places you’ve been, the people who have trusted you, and the fact that your cameras have attended more parties than you have socially. Finishing 2025 in Tasmania with Holly and Nathan was a privilege.

Thank you both for having me, for trusting me when the weather required a little flexibility, and for tolerating the unhinged dribble that occasionally accompanies the photography. A beautiful place, a wedding that found its way around the forecast, and a very good reason to get on an early flight.

P.S. Nathan… do up that jacket button, yeah. 👍
